StriveTribes ("we", "us", "our") operates the StriveTribes mobile application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

Information You Provide
- Account information — name, email address
- Profile information — profile photo, bio, interests
- User-generated content — posts, comments, photos, chat messages
- Activity data — runs, walks, hikes you choose to record
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data — GPS coordinates during active runs/walks/hikes (only while the activity is in progress and with your permission)
- Health & fitness data — heart rate, step count, distance, and workout data via Apple HealthKit (with your explicit permission)
- Motion data — pedometer data for step counting during walks (with your permission)
- Device information — push notification tokens for delivering notifications
- Crash data — anonymous crash reports to help us fix bugs
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and maintain the service (activity tracking, social features, coaching)
- Display your activities on maps and in your training history
- Generate AI coaching insights based on your training data
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Show weather information during your activities
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations
- Improve the app through anonymous crash analytics
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as follows:
- With other users — your profile, posts, and activities are visible according to your privacy settings (public, friends-only, or private)
- Service providers — we use third-party services that process data on our behalf:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications)
- Sentry (crash reporting — anonymous)
- Stytch (authentication)
- Google Generative AI (AI coaching features — anonymized queries)
- DigitalOcean (media storage)
- Brevo (transactional email)
- Legal requirements — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect safety
4. Apple HealthKit Data
Health data accessed via HealthKit is used solely to display your workout metrics and training insights within the app. We do not share HealthKit data with third parties, use it for advertising, or store it on our servers beyond what is necessary to provide the training features you have opted into.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Activity data and route points are stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (TLS)
- Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain
- Local run data is stored on-device in an encrypted SQLite database
- We retain your data as long as your account is active
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & export — you can view all your data within the app
- Deletion — you can delete your account from Settings, which removes all personal data from our servers within 30 days
- Permissions — you can revoke location, health, motion, camera, or notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings
- Privacy controls — you can set activity privacy to private, friends-only, or public
- Blocking — you can block users, which hides all content bidirectionally
7. Children's Privacy
StriveTribes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. International Users
Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using StriveTribes, you consent to this transfer. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
